Fire Chief Richard C. Kline would like to thank the many Plymouth residents who keep a three foot radius shoveled out around their neighborhood's fire hydrants during the winter. In keeping the hydrants shoveled out, neighbors provide a valuable service to the community and put time on the side of firefighters should they be called to respond to a fire emergency.
This has been one of the snowiest winters in years, and firefighters estimate that only three out of ten residential hydrants are shoveled out.
Take a look at your neighborhood's fire hydrants. If they are snow covered, speak with your neighbors and put together a plan to care for them. Your efforts will substantially reduce the amount of time it takes firefighters to get into service when responding to a fire call.
We invite you to download a flier that you can share with your neighbors on the importance of keeping fire hydrants shoveled out.
